Fall weather made its debut over the last week and the fish are starting to notice.
Water temperatures are starting to cool and the striper bite is heating up. Live bait is taking the place of slabs and we are seeing an early morning top water top water bite starting to take shape. Top waters in the early mornings up shallow down sandy banks, and around the islands in 5-15ft of water has been showing some signs of life. Live bait on flats, main lake ledges, and points in 20-40ft of water has been very productive throughout the day.
Catfishing will continue to be productive and the bigger blues will start to be more active as the water temperatures cool down over the coming weeks.
Blues are all over the main lake ledges in 25-40ft of water biting good on cut shad. Channel cats are on hanging out in the back of flats, and ditches in 15-25ft of water still feeding good on our favorite Whisker Seeker punch bait.
Crappie are moving into their fall pattern.
As we are seeing them showing up shallower under floating structure like docks, and moving up to shallower brush and stump beds in 10-15ft of water. Jigs and live crappie minnows have both been consistently catching good crappie over the last several days.
