The spring striper bite is still ramping up, with the weather being up and down with cold fronts some days you have to work for them more than others.
We are seeing a lot of fish out there, with better fish mixed in. The striper are biting well on flats and ledges anywhere from 20-40ft of water with livebait, swim baits and slabs all working to catch them.
Largemouth and smallmouth are moving up on the rocky banks early to feed on spawning shad,
The cold fronts have prolonged the spawn so look for birds on the banks in the early morning. Top waters and crank baits on those rocky banks early and moving a little deeper with soft plastics as you go through the morning.
Catfish are up in the shallower water 10-25ft of water,
On flats and around coves and creeks, cut shad and punch bait have been catching them good.
Look for shallower structure as well as under docks in 10-15ft of water, jigs and live minnows have both been catching good numbers of crappie.
They have been slower to bite on the cold front days so if you find yourself out with a cold front coming through or the day or two after you may have to be a little more patient.
