May striper fishing is on and getting better each day!
With the spring rains we have received keeping water levels in a great place and the water temperatures warming up the fish are getting more and more active. Live bait 20-40 ft of water on points, ledges and flats is catching a lot of fish, with bigger fish mixed in. Slabs, and swim baits are catching fish on flats 20-30ft of water.
Largemouth and smallmouth can be found up shallow early.
On rocky banks and ledges 10-15 ft of water on top water and crank baits, moving deeper 15-25ft of water as the morning progresses switching to soft plastics and deeper diving crank baits.
Catfish are getting more active as well.
Look to find them around the mouths of coves and creeks, as well as on flats and ledges in 15-25ft of water. The baits of choice have been cut shad and punch bait.
Crappie are staying consistent on structure and around boat docks in 15-20 ft of water, catching them on live minnows and jigs.
Preferred jig color may vary day to day so don’t be afraid to mix it up if they’re not biting your favorite jig color.
