Striper fishing on Texoma is starting to enter a transition.
Lures such as slabs and swim baits are starting to be a little less effective while live bait is starting to show more results. Slabs and swim baits continue to produce fish early in the morning on flats 25-40ft water and in open water 50-70ft of water. Always be on the lookout for fish schooling on top. Live bait is beginning to produce numbers again on main lake ledges and points in 35-45 ft of water.
Channel cats will remain active up shallower 20-30ft of water on flats and near banks.
Through the remainder of the warmer weather season into early fall with your favorite flavor of punch bait being the bait of choice. Blue cats will gradually get more and more productive on main lake ledges and points in 30-40ft of water as well on flats in the same depth range as we get closer to Fall and cooler weather, with cut baits being the way to catch them.
Crappie are trying to beat the heat hanging on submerged structure in 20-30ft of water.
As well as hanging around structures casting shade on the water, such as docks. Jigs and crappie minnows have both been producing bites, with one or the other being more productive day to day.
